Power
over Ethernet is the
ideal power solution for a vast array of data equipment
for business and industry use. Primary markets include virtually
any enterprise with an existing Ethernet network. Consolidation
of power and data, in order to simplify installation and
deployment, creates outstanding opportunities for Power
over Ethernet technology.
IEEE
802.3af standard defines
the specifications to deliver power over standard Ethernet
cables. It has been approved on June 12, 2003, by the Institute
of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). PowerDsine
has been a major contributor to the
802.3af Task Force.
Power
over Ethernet Midspan (PoE injector),
with 1,6,12 or 24 output ports, is connected in cascade
to existing Ethernet Switch/Hub. As such, it is a scalable
solution for upgrading a network to support Power over Ethernet.
Power over Ethernet Midspan
is the first system on the market to supply reliable, uninterrupted
power to IP phones, wireless LAN access points, Network
Security, and other Ethernet devices using existing LAN
cable infrastructure. This patented technology, when used
in conjunction with a centralized UPS, ensures continuous
operation during power failures while eliminating the time
and cost of installing separate power cabling and of providing
a dedicated, uninterrupted power supply for individual terminals
and devices.
