The Vertex standard VX-351 series is rugged, compact, and feature-rich.  Rugged because it meets tough military standards (applicable MIL standard pending.)  Compact because it weighs just 11 ounces and measures just 2.3” wide x 4.1” high x 1.3" deep.  Feature-rich because the VX-351 series bundle includes 16 fully programmable channels, 5 watts of output power, a long-life 12-hour 1800 mAh lithium-ion battery (5-5-90 duty cycle with battery saver activated), a  1½ hour rapid charger, and a wide range of standard signaling and scan options such as: (1) DTMF ANI, which encodes a multiple digit identification string (e.g., 175, 283, 945, or longer) into each unit’s transmission, so that supervisors can determine which handset is transmitting at any given time; (2) built-in emergency feature, which enables any soft key to be programmed so that, when depressed, the radio goes to a designated channel, broadcasts the unit ID, and transmits live-audio for predetermined intervals; (3) Dual Watch and Priority Scan; and (4) 2-tone and 5-tone encode/decode circuitry. Two feature levels to choose from The VX-351 Series portables will be available in two levels:
VX-351 has no display and only side keys. VX-354 will have an 8-character Alphanumeric display and four programmable keys on the front. Both version will have 16 channels and 5 watts of power.

Long Battery Life
The VX-351 portable has a battery life of over 11 hours on the standard 1800 mAh battery. This is with battery saver turned off!

With the optional 2,000 mAh battery and battery saver on, the battery life extends to over 15 hours!

Wide Band Coverage
The VX-351 will be available in three band ranges:
VHF 134 MHz - 174 MHz
UHF 400 MHz - 470 MHz, 450 MHz - 512 MHz

Emergency Button Standard
The VX-351 comes with an emergency function built in. This Emergency function, when activated, will switch to a designated channel, send an emergency unit ID and transmit with a live microphone.

Dual 2-Tone decoder
Dual 2-tone decode is built in as well as 2-tone encode.

Option Boards
The VX-351 has an option port to accept the following optional boards:
